1930: Library service to area hospital patients commenced by Syracuse Public Library’s extension department

1931: “Industrial Room” with technology and engineering books and magazines opens under former Solvay Process librarian Edith Schroeder

1933: New information service for job seekers started with resources on vocations and local job initiated

With a staff of Works Progress Administration workers, “book messenger” service to shut-ins of all ages began, delivering over 400 books to home-bound patrons
